GREAT information, realy good at theory. I need to be good with Words like that. However, your body language when practising with your dog is to stiff , to unsecure etc. And the commands I would recomend definetely to be more "clear". I would say that is my strong side when training my dog as understanding them. But I need to practise getting it out with Words hence I'm about to continue helping people with their dogs.

I've noticed a lot of ugly comments on this video about the dog "not listening." I think this was a great FREE video, and his dog DID listen and he knew he would get his treat. His dog was clearly PLAYING and happy which is a sign of a GREAT dog owner.

Good talk but dogs do know right or wrong, in terms of what is expected or not from them. Maybe you meant they do not associate a moral code to their conduct?

I think this was an interesting lecture. I didn't have time to hear all of it, but I'd like to share my thoughts with what I've heard so far. I agreed with him pretty much all the way until he said that training with positive reinforcement only causes a lot of problems because the dog never learns that there is a consequence for bad behavior. I think that is incorrect. I'd like to argue that there IS a consequence for undesirable behavior- but instead of a shock or pop on the prong collar, it is simply NOT getting the reward. The consequence for pulling on a leash is to stop walking and not getting to go where he wants to go. The consequence for jumping on someone excitedly is that person turning around and ignoring them, not giving them attention which is what the dog ultimately wants. The consequence for not sitting after the owner has asked him to sit is that he doesn't win a prize. Witholding a positive reinforcer like treats, toys, or life rewards (called "negative punishment" in psychology terms) is arguably more powerful as a learning tool than the application of pain, fear, or coercion ("positive punishment"). Think back to when you were in school… was your favorite teacher the one who praised and rewarded you for your successes, or the teacher who constantly pointed out all your failures and everything you were doing wrong? In which environment did you learn more? Which teacher inspired you to WANT to learn of your own accord? He claims that every dog has a different learning style, just like children, but I've never met a child who thrives in a punishment-based classroom environment moreso than a positive one. Both humans and dogs learn incredibly effectively from the inside out (intrinsic motivation) via positive reinforcement, that with the resources and research we have nowadays, it's becoming harder and harder to justify the use of aversives as valid and ethical dog training tools. Even if you do not agree, I welcome your responses.

Rob, you want to disattach this particular dog's training from rewarding with this particular toy. He is extremely attached to it, nothing else matters but getting this toy from you. He goes ok on verbal commands, just do it verbally on your shows. AND all/Rob: do not confine your dogs unless it is asolutely inevitable. Rob, especially this young and agile dog of his breed. Post-confined he has the right to move – it is his essential NEED. Never give your human commands to your pet before you meet his essential needs. If he needs to pee – please, wait till he is done. If he needs to stretch his muscules, you first address his NEED, then play your human games of showing your suppression skills off etc. Audience: long talk – because Google gave this long a time to talk. They may have conditioned to have his dog confined. No dog's fault – no Rob's fault. Rob, would you first demonstrate the dog's skills (no toy, remember?), then let an assistant take him away on a leash (so he can stand and move) and go on talking? …and yes, he does not make you look silly, he did not think this way (remember your own words earlier in your talk?), – all he needed & wanted was – move & play. All the best to you – dramatic move from shop repair to a behaviorist, you are a lot better than CM mentioned in the comments below, who breaks not trains. Ian Dunbar, yourself and such at least try to partner with dogs. All: in real life you never have a clicker in your hand. Rob is right – quickest – use words. First train your dog to action on words, not bribes, of course. This way you can rely on your dog in real life, not class, not training session. Best of luck with your dogs. They love us and know more about us)

When To Start Training Your Puppy?
Dog training process is like a super long road. So, it should be given importance. You should be aware of what you are doing to your dog. For example, you ought to be very careful when you choose the training method that you will apply to your pup. If you make a wrong decision, you will not be successful when you train your dog.

One of the biggest steps in training your pup is to start training your pup, not surprisingly. However, a lot of owners do not know much or do not know anything about when to start training their dogs. They either start training too early or they start too late.

You should be conscious about when to introduce your new breed with training. To give an example, you can not teach a nine month old baby the social code of ethics because he or she would be too young to understand it. Nor you can teach it to a fourty five year old person because he or she will have his or her own code of ethics already and it will be hard to change them. But if you start training in the right time, you will get the perfect results.

I loved the Mal we had but our KNPV German Shepherd was so much easier to train and his bite was dramatically stronger, painful and unbearable, even through a bite sleeve. Our Mal was fast and hit hard but I wasn't impressed. The Dutch Shepherd has been the most amazing breed I've worked with, smart as a GSD, bites just as hard, and fast an nimble like a Mal.

I'm a (people) behavior specialist graduate level trained in applied behavior science. It's refreshing to hear those information logically and practically applied beyond the realm of special education. This is similar to the information in give in parent trainings. All living organisms can be trained to behave using these basic methods.

If you like to protect and defend dogs, other animals and people you must read the following life – saving information: When we eat, wear and use animal products, we create, promote and encourage diseases, pollution, Global Warming, hunger, wild life extinction, deforestation and violence. Did you know that :
    – Animal agriculture is the worst polluter on Planet Earth and could never be sustainable.
    – 80 % Of the agricultural lands in the U.S. only is used to rase and feed farmed animals. America alone can feed 1,100 billion people.
    – To make 1 kg. beef are necessary: 15 455 lt. water: 27 kg. of CO2; 36 kg. hay; 6.5 kg. grains.
     – The only milk we need is the milk from our own mothers. Milk is for babies only and the cow isn’t our mother either.
    – We don't need to eat animal protein to live long, be healthy and happy.
    – If in your plate there is a victim it is no longer a personal choice.
    – Veal calves can live up to 20 years but in the leather, dairy industries only 1 – to 24 weeks.
    – In nature cows produce 7 lt. milk a day necessary for the survival of their calves. Farmed cows – 27 lt. per day… to never feed their own calves… but people that are not her babies!?!
    – There’s no such thing as “humane” slavery, rape discrimination, racism, violence and murder.    – Animal agriculture is responsible for 5050 million tons of manure each year – nearly 28 times the amount from the entire (U.S.) human population.
    – 2000 trees are chopped down in the Amazon rainforest every 60 seconds to make room for Animal Agriculture. 80 percent of that are levelled just to produce meat, which only causes further, unnecessary damage to the environment.
    – A study published in the Journal of Atherosclerosis Research found that regular egg consumption could put your health at grave risk. The average American consumes about 247 eggs every year. This is over 40 percent more than the world per-capita average. Because egg yolks are loaded with cholesterol, a known risk factor for coronary artery disease and heart attacks, they are as dangerous as cigarettes according to scientists.
    – Animal Agriculture is polluting over 35.000 miles of (US) rivers, lakes threatening endangered fish, amphibians and birds. Over 117 endangered species that live on US lands are threatened by animal slavery only. Add self – proclaimed "hunters", poachers and other mass destructive gold diggers.
    – 50% of water goes towards raising farm animals animals for food.
    – 74.5% Of global green house gases come from farm animals – more than trains, cars and airplanes combined.
    – For ONE veggie burger are needed: 42 gallons of water and ONE beef burger – 621 gallons of water.
    – One Lt. milk – 1000 Lt. water.
    – For one kg. beef is needed 32+ sq. meters of land,
    – One kg. of pork 20+ sq. m. land,
    – One kg. of chicken 18 sq. m.,
    – One kg. of eggs 18 sq. m.of land,
    – One kg. fruits about 2 meters,
    – One kg. potatoes 1 sq. m. and 1/2, and
    – One kg. veggies less than a meter.
    – Oceans are depleted thanks to overfishing. 195+ million tonnes  of fish is pulled every year for profits and 5 min. pallet pleasure. Please check out the following LIFESAVING information to know and do better. Thanks
    – Animals all over the world are robbed from everything precious to them, their own lands, peaceful existence, food and lives for no fault and no choice of their own! Deprived, used, enslaved, discriminated, tortured, frightened, experimented on, raped, chained, exploit and butchered like vegetables for no fault and no choice of their own.
    – The non – human animals are just like us!?! They deserve, want, desire and have right to exist just as much as you and I.
    – Each day, a person who eats a vegan/plant – based diet saves 1,100 gallons of water, 45 pounds of grain, 30 sq.ft. forested land, 20 lbs. CO2 equivalent, and one animal's life.
     – If you choose plant – based life – style you choose LIFE.
"As long as humans continue to be the ruthless destroyer of other sentient beings, we will never know health or peace. For as long as people massacre animals they will kill each other. Indeed those who sow the seed of murder and pain will never reap joy or love" – Pythagorus
Mark Twain (1835-1910) – Of all the creatures, man is the most detestable. Of the entire brood, he’s the one that possesses malice. He is the only creature that inflicts pain for sport, knowing it to be pain. The fact that man knows right from wrong proves his intellectual superiority to the other creatures; but the fact that he can do wrong proves his moral inferiority to any creature that cannot.
