For just one or two dogs, a much smaller container would keep the water much fresher than a large tote like the one you have, but that could work great for a bunch of large dogs, at least when temps are above freezing.

Interesting idea, thanks for sharing. Other ideas: Why not use a pickle barrel instead of two buckets? Also, I would not want as much food sitting out as there is in the bottom bucket /'dish' in this video. Even with the preservatives in it, dry dog food will go stale sitting out. and it can attract ants, other insects, or animals like raccoons, possums, etc if the feeder is outside, or if there is a dog dog.

Better yet would be a feeder that was not made of plastic. All plastic has pores that breed bacteria. All plastic is made of chemicals, so even 'food grade' plastics transfer chemicals to the food, and water, in them. These chemicals are known to cause cancer, hormone issues (pattern hair loss, overweight, or underweight, etc), and other health problems. after all, dogs did not evolve with exposure to plastics and man-made chemicals.

Clean that water, dude. Those poor dogs should have access to clean water just like you do.
